Tips on writing a Dissertation Proposal

This is one long piece of writing but it is different from an essay. It is your responsibility to decide on the topic and the focus of the paper. Several sections will make up the dissertation if it is to get the official seal of approval.

You must include the following sections in the draft of your proposal:

  1. Introduction
  2. Main body
  3. Mini conclusion

There are three major sections as listed above and the body comprises several parts as indicated above.

How to start

You are expected to read wide before you select the topic that you are confident to write on. There are several ways to carry out research online. The topic of your choice should be one that you are comfortable writing on. When you have gotten your topic idea, you can now move on to the next phase of the assignment.

The proper writing

You are now ready to begin the writing process. Do not be afraid if you do not know how to go about writing your hypothesis. This will fall in place along the line as you go deep into the research. The structure is not more than what we have discussed above.

You are, to begin with, your introduction where you are expected to catch the attention of your readers. This part should contain your hook sentence that will interest your readers to read through your paper.

The main body is where you are to do a lot of work. It is expected of you to show the importance of the paper to your readers and the positive contributions it has to make to better our living standard. The standard body should contain the following subsections:

  • Methodology
  • Aims and objectives
  • Literature review
  • Limitations
  • Ethical considerations
  • Time frame

Each of the subsections listed above is a must and it should be properly developed in line with the topic of the proposal.

The conclusion is where you are going to put in the summary of what you have presented in your paper. There should be no new introductions here. What you are to say is the summary of what you have stated in your hypothesis in the introduction. It should be brief and straight to the point.

Ethics

It is expected of every student to add a reference to the paper. This will enable your readers who have decided to research more on your paper the opportunity of getting something to fall back on. It is also an opportunity to avoid issues bothering on plagiarism.

Final thoughts

Excellent proposal writing without following the set guidelines will not yield the expected results at the end of the day. The standards have been set above. It is left for every student to follow the rules. This will lead to high grades at the end of the exercise.
